    • RE: Adding Canadian GEM/CMC (2.5 km resolution) to current weather models

      @korina
      I agree, we need more forecast models for Canada/USA.
      I believe the models the author is talking about are the following:
      High Resolution Deterministic Prediction Systems (HRDPS) (2.5km, 2 days).
      Regional Deterministic Prediction Systems (RDPS) (10km, 3.5 days).
      Global Deterministic Prediction System (GDPS) (15km, 10 days).

      These are really good models that are used a lot in Canada/USA.
      I don't think the GDPS would be very useful, but RDPS and HRDPS would be great to compare with ECMWF and NAM for medium and short term forcasting.
      Thanks!

    • Adding new Models for Canada/USA

      Hello,

      Users in Canada and USA would really benefit from having access to Environment Canada's forecasts on Windy. Specifically the HRDPS, RDPS and GDPS. These are the best models available for North America and they would allow us to have more options available for forecasting, just like Europe has.

      These forecasts are available on other apps and website (igetwind.com, spotwx.com, etc) but it would be very useful to be able to look at them on the map with Windy!

      Cheers!

    • RE: Nam forecast not showing in weather timeline.

      @idefix37
      You are right, when I move further SW, it works. It looks like I was outside the NAM zone. But if you look at my screenshot, the NAM usually works all the way to it's "actual border" on the map. So when I click in the red zone, it usually works. It looks like the NAM zone border is a lot further west than it should be or used to be.
      For reference, in my previous screenshots, my point on the map was exactly on the little bell that's inside the red zone. NAM usually works there.
      Thanks!

    • NAM hourly forecast / Button to change time by 1 hour

      Hello Windy Community!

      I can't find a good way to check the NAM forecast hour by hour.
      When you open the detailed forecast for a location, you get the forecast by blocks of 3 hours (3am, 6am, 12pm, 3pm, etc). This is fine for the ECMWF forecast which only has wind forecast every 3 hours anyways, but for the NAM which has a forecast for each hour, it would be nice to be able to actually see the hour by hour forecast in the detailed forecast panel.

      The only way I have to check the NAM forecast hour by hour is to pin a location on the map and look at the little number that shows the wind next to the selected location on the map. And then click on the time line to try to change the time forward or backward by one hour (not always easy to do that). Or click play to start the time and then try to pause it everytime the hour changes... super annoying (and once again... not always easy to do that; you can get a lag and then you accidentally click pause after 2 hours went by...)

      My suggestions:
      The best would be, for the NAM forecast, in the detailed forecast for a location, to show the forecast hour by hour.
      An other good option would be to add a button that you can click that allows you to move 1 hour forward or backward on the time line.

      Either of these would be great!

      Thanks!

    • RE: New snow and HRDPS

      @Suty Hello Suty. By curiousity, what is the necessary data you need on your end to calculate the new snow forecasted? When I select hrdps, in the hour-per-hour forecast I can see the amount of snow that is forecasted to fall every hour. Is that not what you need for the new snow map? It would be very helpful to have the new snow map with hrdps for people living in USA and Canada. Thanks

      @idefix37 That is not my post, though I did reply on this post. But thanks for finding this. I thought I made a seperate post about this and had memories of someone telling me you could made changes to the code to add new models. Thanks for the reply!

      @idefix37 thanks for the reply.
      I asked this similar question a couple of years ago and I was told that it is possible to add a new model, but that I would have to do it by myself. I'm guessing I would need to pull the code from an open source location, make changes to add the model and then push a new version to have it reviewed.
      You are telling me this is not possible?
      And you're also telling me that the only way to add a new model is to suggest it as a feature and hope and pray that they implement it in the future?
      HRDPS and RDPS are the best models available for North America, especially USA/Canada. It would be great to find a way to add those!

    • Adding more models to Windy

      Hello,

      I looked into this in the forums but I didn't find the information that I need.
      I would love to add Environment Canada's HRDPS, RDPS and GDP to Windy. This would be very useful for users in Canada. At the moment, I have to use another app because these models are not on Windy.
      Is there a way to do this? If so, could someone explain the main steps that I would need to do to achieve this?

      Thanks!

    • Nam forecast not showing in weather timeline.

      Hello,

      When I click on the NAM forecast (website and android app as well), the weather timeline does not change to the NAM forecast, it stays on the same forecast.

      Does anyone else have this issue?

      Sorry, I could not upload screenshots, I was getting errors.

      Thanks,

      Jean-Luc
