i don't like this new feature because it will be available on all weather stations..official and PWS. But what should the point on PWS? PWS are often not reliable..because they are not installed with the complicated rules for installing a weather station for meassure real! values. And then compare this PWS to the weather forecast? Useless imho...
What are those "complicated rules"? Can you explain, please?
If you don't like the PWS reports, then don't click on them. For some it might be helpful information though. Especially if you know where and how the PWS is installed you can evaluate the data for yourself. Maybe a photo of the weather station's location could help.
just playing around I realize this behavior seems very inconsistent .... for example, if I click on Hamburg (GER) on the map there is no Arome data, even though it's well inside the covered area. Prague (CZE) or Vigo (ESP) gets Arome data even though they are much closer to the Arome edge. :-(
Loving the implementation of new features like the AROME model.
One thing I noticed is that it is impossible to explore any data if I drag or zoom the screen anywhere near the corners of the Arome covered area. It switches very early to another model even if I zoom in far enough to only see part of the Arome covered area. It's not so bad at the edges, but in the corners its almost impossible to look even from far away.
I realize that it's the same behavior with the NEMS and ICON models if you go anywhere near (some 100km?) the corners of the covered area.
Any chance this automatic switch to bigger models can be pushed further outwards or even be turned off? I would suggest that as long as you can see part of covered area, Windy should not switch to another model than I have selected.
Thanks for your consideration.
I second this. A grid of numbers would give a quick AND very detailed overview. This obviously depends on zoom level, maybe it makes sense from zoom level 7 and closer?
I very much like the numbers being displayed under the city names, but in sparsely populated areas (or over mountains or water, ...) a grid of numbers would help a lot. That's the one thing I like Ventusky.com for (oh, and the COSMO model) ;-). Other than that Windy.com is the go-to-site! Thanks a lot!
I would also love to set up a different start up location in the iOS app. Usually I open the app to check a spot for sailing or surfing which I‘m planning to go to next. So being able to set up and change the start up location every now and then, like in the desktop browser version, would be really cool.
Thanks for the great app.
Start-up settings in the iOS app!
Please let me specify the start-up location (e.g.one of my favorites) when I open the app or click the home icon (little house) on the right.
