Thank you. So the wind speed graphic on the map is determined by some mathematical algorithm? Not sure what parameters are used to define wind speeds and directions for two places only a few tens of miles apart, in the middle of nowhere.
I thought maybe some fancy, doppler-equipped satellite could somehow read ground windspeeds from orbit. Wrong - I guess!
Still not clear on the process.

I live in a part of the world where weather reporting stations are widely scattered, often 200 or 300 miles apart. How does Windy determine the windspeed for a specific location, and how does Windy know that the winds speeds are markedly different for locations only 10 or 20 miles apart?
