For the wind-junkies such as windsurfers/kiters/wingers most typically we are interested in the middle of the wind range. For us there is a (very) big difference between say 15 knots and 20 knots. With the current color scales it is often hard to see these kind of differences. So some kind of optional scaling that stretches the resolution of the middle where most people recreate would be great.
Also I find that use of "wind contours" can be very helpful ( as used by SurfLine). Rather than showing a gradation of wind, you show contour lines/color contours where the wind is in a range.
