    • Airgram and stability of air

      Hi!

      I am Marco from Portugal.
      I dont know if it is here that I make my question but I will make it.

      Is there any way to see in airgram if the air is stable and may create horizontal clouds like stratus or nimbostratus and continuous rain or the air is unstable and make vertical clouds like cumulus and cumulimbus as known as thunderstorm clouds and make rain by showers.
      I know if the vertical temperature gradient is low, the air is stable, if the gradient is high, the air is unstable. Can I see it in airgram? How? Is there any parameter or index that I can measure the stability of atmosfere? I wiew in another site a lifted index.

      I apreciate the answer to my question.

      Greetings

    • Doubt and samples

      Hello! I wanted to show you a situation I noticed in the United States in Perry, Florida. With atmospheric pressure at 1017 hPa, CAPE at 1100 + -. I saw lightning happening in real time and went to investigate the curves of sounding diagrams. I noticed that thunderstorms are forecast in the surrounding hours but the red temperature line was below the humid adiabatical although the blue line is very close to the red line. Now my question is: If the red temperature line is above the humid adiabatic, shouldn't it inhibit vertical development? And not form storms? Shouldn't the warmer surrounding air keep the adiabatic bubble from rising? I leave images taken. Give me the best explanation with this example. Thank you

    • RE: Missing answer!!

      @Gkikas-LGPZ

      Hello! How do I interpret this sounding diagram? What lines are those thin straight gray and what lines are the red and blue variables? What is tcl, ccl and tcon? How do I know from a diagram whether or not clouds will be formed or constant rain or heavy showers? I am new to this. Thank you.

      @Gkikas-LGPZ

      Thank you for the answers

      It is good also to add a front indicator (cold front and warm front, etc) and lifted index.
      It is a sugestion.

      Thank you all
