And here´s a custom one I made for myself with the same colors, but differently scaled as so to differentiate multiples of my "head high" tresholds (I am 1.7m of height):

At my 1.7m "Head High" treshold the color switches from blue to green.

At my 3.4m "Double Overhead" treshold the color switches from green to yellow.

At my 5.1m "Triple Overhead" treshold the color switches from yellow to orange.

At my 6.8m "XXL" treshold the color switches from orange to red.

I know this is not perfect since a small long period ground swell can produce overhead waves, but until Windy gives us "Surf", "Energy" or even just "Period" sea maps, this is the next best thing 😛 enjoy:

Anyway I think this particular color scale does make a lot of sense for surfing:

Dark Blue is the ‘normal’ color ofthe ocean, the color you would see in most parts of the world when looking at a unbroken sea surface or down into the abyss on the open ocean

As waves break with foam the color will turn to white, hence ‘light blue’ for small, whitewash waves.

Me personally as a shortboard surfer, I am most interested in the days where the waves are head high or over, this will be the greenlighted areas on the map.
When waves get backlit they turn greenish, and the unbroken part of a good surfing wave is called a green wave in surf lingo. So this makes sense.

Going into the double, and triple overhead range the danger increases, so orange and red are good indicators of this.

Purple is the ‘Ultra’ color, to show waves of extraordinary size, and the Black Hole shows that the scale is maxed out.

I love Windy but I really like the colors on the Magicseaweed Swellmaps:

so when I discovered it was possible to customize the color scale I copied the Magicseaweed colors, and I´m really happy with the result.

Would love to see the swell energy. Dont know if the "Waves" tab displays this, or just the dominant swell. As regarding to the waves, swell 1, 2 and 3 breakdowns, these are colour coded as to open ocean swell height, so its less intuitive to find a good surfeable swell as a long period groundswell will not show up in bright colors if the swell height is not so high. But the energy is there and it will produce larger breaking waves at the coast than the dominant/combined swell that is prioritized in the Waves tab...

Would love to be able to see real time wave bouy data on the map, preferably with recent history to be able to spot trends, and with a graphical interface e.g. curve.

Would love to see actual weather station data (wind rose, wind graph) on my watch. Would be super useful when your out and about on the beach to check the wind trends upwind from the spot!

The Apple watch App has a bug rendering it completely useless… its main feature; to show the wind forecast, is bugged so that its always showing 10m/s.
Also, if I can make a suggestion, please add wind observations to the watch app!
And a wind observation wind rose complication!
It would be so useful when youre at the beach and left your phone, to check wind observations in the surrounding area, at a glance, from youre wrist.

I have the same problem, on the latest iOS here... favorite renaming is (still) buggy

Just today I was checking webcams.travel as this is a great service I have been using for many years. Was pleasantly surprised when I saw that it had been merged with Windy 😃 Really excellent job guys, you are providing some unprecedented functionality here!

Please, make the hour stepper available for the keystrokes left/right arrow! This is the only reason I am using other weather services than windy, even though it is interpolated, its a big difference to be able to predict the peak of a swell or wind event when you can have 1 hr steps instead of 3 hours steps. My home spots are very shifty and this more detailed information can be the difference between a score and a skunk... (Ps I know that the 1 hr stepper is available in the GFS model, but ECMWF has more resolution, so I trust this more).
