    • RE: Bottom of app gets hidden under Andoid navbar (45.0.6)

@windyati Exactly the same on my Xiaomi phone. I know Xiaomi breaks 'standard Android' things, but since you're on a Google Pixel, there's definitely something wrong with the Windy update. It worked up until the previous version. Also, all other apps are fine, only Windy V45.0.6 is broken.

    • Default model setting still missing (it's been 8 years...)

Windy users have been asking for a setting to choose the preferred weather model for a long time, and Windy's reply has always been the same: "We might add it someday...", "We're considering it...", "We might add it, but don't know when...". Well, a quick search for default model shows 68 results, with the first one posted in 2017. That's 8 years ago.

      ff2cd1fc-6f30-4b6c-90c9-1f9c1a9aa61e-image.png

Nothing has happened. There is still no setting to choose a default model. Every single time we open the website or app, ECMWF opens, which in most cases is the worst model of them all, even though it's claimed to be the most accurate. Not everywhere!

It's such a shame that this still hasn't been implemented, and there's also no explanation as to why. Maybe some contract enforces the use of ECMWF as default. Who knows. We users don't.

It would be great if you could add this setting. Thank you, even though there's almost no hope after 8 years of asking...

This is not about overlays and using widgets. It's about a simple option in the settings that should and could be added.

    • RE: Aladin model and Radar+ layer for widgets

@nickexel said in Aladin model and Radar+ layer for widgets:

Can we please have the opportunity to use Aladin as the forcast model for the widgets?
Can we please change the layer for the Radar widget to Radar+ or give the user option to choose which to use?

Yes, please add the Aladin model in the widgets. It's quite confusing to see a list of 12 models in the widget settings, which are also different to what I can see when I open the Android app and also the web interface at my current location. On the web and Android app I can see the same 5 models (GFS, ECMWF, METEOBLUE, ICON-EU, ALADIN). In the widget settings are ECMWF, GFS, ICON, ICON-EU, ICON-D2, Arome, Meteoblue, NAM, NEMS, HRRR, ACCESS, UKV. What are all these other models? Why can I see them in the widget settings but not in the web and Android app? And why is ALADIN missing in the widget?

    • RE: Windy drawing under nav bar - cannot toggle 1hr forecast

@MarkNagy Well, when I open the app it looks like this. So definitely not fixed.

      bb34b32e-a557-47af-aac0-f45ce6ab6ff3-image.png

After tapping on the search bar at the top and then closing the keyboard, it looks like this. I can't tell if the issue is present or not because Windy doesn't show any controls in that area - only that really wide/high color scale area...

@Suty Okay, so the current behavior of getting two notifications is 'normal'. Thanks for the information! I look forward to the future options for customizing those daily notifications.

@Suty As others mention in several different threads, this is not fixed! Windy just updated to 45.1.3 on Android, but the app is still behind the Android navigation buttons! (Android 15, Redmi Note 13)

    • RE: What's that plane icon?

@idefix37 Thank you for this explanation. That makes perfect sense, of course. It works. But our conversation here shows that this UI element is about as clear as mud for newbies and can cause stupid questions like mine ;-) So maybe an idea for improvement would be to just hide that plane/altitude icon in the first place and make it only on appear on layers that actually do support changing the altitude. That would make way more sense than having a useless, non-clickable icon shown all the time on layers that don't need it. Thanks again!

Just adding a comment to further boost this. Hopefully... If Windy says it listens to suggestions, then please do.

Give us an option to disable that eyesore or remove it entirely. Or, instead of that unusable, ugly overlay, maybe use a different color scale like others suggested and like almost every other app/website shows different precipitation types.

@idefix37 @suty Hi. Yes, that switch works and keeps its state. But the one in the "Compare forecast" view always reverts back to the 3h view after closing the app. This one here does not save its state.

    • RE: New Widgets...

I wanted to try them but they don't even work on my phone. I tried multiple times... When that option appears to choose between the old and the new widget and I select the new one, nothing happens. No widget is pinned to the screen, even though the entire screen is empty without any apps or other widgets on it. They don't work at all on my Redmi Note 13, Android 15. But according to your description, it seems I'm better off with the old ones anyway.

    • Inconsistent time display

Hi, I've noticed the following inconsistency that seems a bit weird.

Case 1: 15 day forecast with 3 hour interval (1h toggle off in the bottom left)

      • Every day starts at 2am, for some reason. Why not midnight, 0:00?
      • But then, on the 12th August, after the 7-day forecast is over, you see that the interval changes to a 6-hour interval, which starts at 5am. Again, why not 0:00 and then 0, 6, 12, 18?

      6ae4aac9-4caf-4ea0-996f-481281075898-Screenshot 2026-08-05 154507.png

When looking at the comparison view, it's the same. Also, why is it only 5 days in the comparison view instead of 7 days as in the map/normal forecast view?

      ae2dfd31-369f-4143-9cd7-89ab1c560a1e-Screenshot 2026-08-05 154603.png

Case 2: 15 day forecast with 1 hour interval (1h toggle on in the bottom left)

      • For the first 7 days, everything is okay because it shows all 24 hours.
      • But then again, after the first 7 days, the interval changes to 2 hours, and begins at 1am. It's a mess... Why not start at midnight? Why at 1am? Why is it different than above where it starts at 2am?

      a62b2d05-291e-4f60-867b-bdb1f15963d1-Screenshot 2026-08-05 154722.png

When looking at the comparison view, it's like this:

      • In the 1h mode (different toggle, new one in comparison mode), the first 6 (SIX! Why not 7?) show all 24 hours correctly. Then the 7th day, which STILL should show all 24 hours, starts at midnight, then 2am, 5am, 8am, ... 23 - so we have a 2h-interval first, then a 3h-interval for the whole day until 11pm where it's just 1 hour left until midnight...
      • And then days 8 to 15 show the 3-hour interval, but starting at 2am. Again, why not midnight?

      85f6624f-ed97-40b9-afca-cee8791cf3a4-Screenshot 2026-08-05 154658.png

      • In the 3h mode, every single day starts at 2am from day 7 to 15, but notice that day 7 (the 11th August) is now the same as days 8 to 15 - unlike on the screenshot above where the 11th is different, which is yet another weird thing.

Sorry, but this was not possible to explain without screenshots. I hope the confusion makes sense...

    • RE: Android app crashes when trying to view reported temp/wind/recent precip.

@Suty Hi, I've noticed something regarding this issue. When I turn on any of those three options (reported wind, temp., precip.) and then just move the map on my phone so that the crosshair is over one of the many stations displayed on the map, the correct data of that station is shown at the top of the screen. I can move the map around as much as I like and as soon as the crosshair is over a station, I see that data. But, as soon as I tap on any of the displayed stations, Windy freezes instantly. So it has something to do with the "tapping" function.

    • RE: Android app crashes when trying to view reported temp/wind/recent precip.

@Suty Hi, it's been a long time and I honestly didn't check, but yesterday I noticed the issue again and remembered that I reported this quite some time ago. The Android Windy app still crashes in this case every single time.

Steps to repeat the problem: display any of the three weather station options: reported wind, reported temp., reported precip. - this still works and the stations appear on the map. But then, just click on any of all the displayed stations and the app instantly freezes. It has to be force-closed and reopened to work again. Did you ever find out what's causing this and how and when it may be fixed? Thank you very much.

    • RE: What got updated in the 7.21 version this time?

Hi @Suty, as @jasonv13 mentioned, it's not just that the pressure/clouds/rain/etc. have been removed, it's the fact that the airgram is cut off at the bottom because the red options menu bar does not disappear. This is a screenshot from a 27" display, so there's enough space but the bottom of the airgram is cut off by the red bar.

    • RE: Route planner with imported GPX not following route and distance wrong

@idefix37 I plotted that route myself in CalTopo and exported it as gpx. I can import that file anywhere in AlpineQuest, Google Earth, Gaia, Mapy, etc., and it's always correct. So I don't think the gpx is wrong. I can try creating routes in other apps and importing them into Windy. If it's going to be the same result, something with the import doesn't seem to work properly. I won't use Windy to plot routes because I've been using CalTopo for years and all my data is there. But I can definitely try to create gpx routes in other tools and import them to see what happens.

    • RE: Route planner with imported GPX not following route and distance wrong

@Nicole-Dolezalova Hello, it's been more than 7 months now. Has this been investigated? Because it is definitely not fixed. I have just tried it again, please watch this screen recording here: https://kommodo.ai/recordings/LBoVKcphHSp4LCGRWvLG?onlyRecording=1

As described in the original post, I simply imported a small 13.48km gpx file exported from CalTopo into Windy. Same behavior. Windy somehow turns those 13.48km into 18km, and everything is just off.

You can see the white dots flying in and out from everywhere on the map when I simply drag the mouse over the route at the bottom. You can also see that the orange "elevation dot" is off. And the end is just at elevation zero, which are the additional 4.5km Windy adds for some reason.

Thanks for an update on this.

@idefix37 That is not what I asked and not what my post is about. My location is irrelevant. Look at the first two images. For EVERY SINGLE DAY the min and max temps are shown, but on the current day, only the max temp is shown.
