    • RE: Bottom of app gets hidden under Andoid navbar (45.0.6)

@windyati Exactly the same on my Xiaomi phone. I know Xiaomi breaks 'standard Android' things, but since you're on a Google Pixel, there's definitely something wrong with the Windy update. It worked up until the previous version. Also, all other apps are fine, only Windy V45.0.6 is broken.

    • Default model setting still missing (it's been 8 years...)

Windy users have been asking for a setting to choose the preferred weather model for a long time, and Windy's reply has always been the same: "We might add it someday...", "We're considering it...", "We might add it, but don't know when...". Well, a quick search for default model shows 68 results, with the first one posted in 2017. That's 8 years ago.

      ff2cd1fc-6f30-4b6c-90c9-1f9c1a9aa61e-image.png

Nothing has happened. There is still no setting to choose a default model. Every single time we open the website or app, ECMWF opens, which in most cases is the worst model of them all, even though it's claimed to be the most accurate. Not everywhere!

It's such a shame that this still hasn't been implemented, and there's also no explanation as to why. Maybe some contract enforces the use of ECMWF as default. Who knows. We users don't.

It would be great if you could add this setting. Thank you, even though there's almost no hope after 8 years of asking...

This is not about overlays and using widgets. It's about a simple option in the settings that should and could be added.

    • RE: Aladin model and Radar+ layer for widgets

@nickexel said in Aladin model and Radar+ layer for widgets:

Can we please have the opportunity to use Aladin as the forcast model for the widgets?
Can we please change the layer for the Radar widget to Radar+ or give the user option to choose which to use?

Yes, please add the Aladin model in the widgets. It's quite confusing to see a list of 12 models in the widget settings, which are also different to what I can see when I open the Android app and also the web interface at my current location. On the web and Android app I can see the same 5 models (GFS, ECMWF, METEOBLUE, ICON-EU, ALADIN). In the widget settings are ECMWF, GFS, ICON, ICON-EU, ICON-D2, Arome, Meteoblue, NAM, NEMS, HRRR, ACCESS, UKV. What are all these other models? Why can I see them in the widget settings but not in the web and Android app? And why is ALADIN missing in the widget?

    • RE: Windy drawing under nav bar - cannot toggle 1hr forecast

@MarkNagy Well, when I open the app it looks like this. So definitely not fixed.

      bb34b32e-a557-47af-aac0-f45ce6ab6ff3-image.png

After tapping on the search bar at the top and then closing the keyboard, it looks like this. I can't tell if the issue is present or not because Windy doesn't show any controls in that area - only that really wide/high color scale area...

@Suty Okay, so the current behavior of getting two notifications is 'normal'. Thanks for the information! I look forward to the future options for customizing those daily notifications.

@Suty As others mention in several different threads, this is not fixed! Windy just updated to 45.1.3 on Android, but the app is still behind the Android navigation buttons! (Android 15, Redmi Note 13)

    • RE: What's that plane icon?

@idefix37 Thank you for this explanation. That makes perfect sense, of course. It works. But our conversation here shows that this UI element is about as clear as mud for newbies and can cause stupid questions like mine ;-) So maybe an idea for improvement would be to just hide that plane/altitude icon in the first place and make it only on appear on layers that actually do support changing the altitude. That would make way more sense than having a useless, non-clickable icon shown all the time on layers that don't need it. Thanks again!

    • Always two daily mobile notifications simultaneously

This is about the Android app, the latest version, but this has happened on previous versions too.

In the notification settings, I have enabled "Send mobile notifications" and "Send daily mobile notifications". What exactly is the difference, anyway? Is the first one (green) for alerts?

      settings.png

Anyway, the problem is that I get two notifications simultaneously every day. Why are there two?

      notifications.png

And if I disable either one of those settings (or both, obviously), I no longer get any notifications at all. So I either get two or none. Why is that? Is this normal? In the red frame it says 'You will receive a notification every day...', so 'a notification'. One. Not two.

@Suty Hi. I have a Windy widget that I usually tap on to open Windy. I've done this for years, but only in the last few days Windy opens with this UI glitch. No, the app is not open in the background. I usually close apps right after I used them - which I also have been doing in the exact same way for years.

    • App displayed behind Android UI. Again.

A few months ago, there was the exact same issue, which can be found here on the forum. Now it's back... For the last few days, I've noticed that the app is behind the Android UI at the top and bottom again.

The weird thing is, it "only" happens a few times a day. When it happens, I need to close the Windy app, open it again, and then the UI is correct.

      Please check and fix this.

    • RE: Default model setting still missing (it's been 8 years...)

@Gkikas-LGPZ Hi, thanks, but that's not what I meant. I mentioned that I am not talking about opening Windy through a widget or using overlays. What all users mean who have ever requested this, is an option in the settings to select the model that is displayed when we open the website on the computer or open the app. Also, your suggestion only works for Windy Premium users. Guess which feature would make me upgrade from Free to Premium...

    • Mobile notifications now grouped and collapsed

In earlier versions (up until a few weeks ago), mobile notifications were displayed correctly - as two separate notifications (that's another topic that has been discussed why there's two of them). Now, however, the daily notifications appear collapsed by default, and grouped into one notification, so that there are three layers that need to be expanded manually.

I'm not sure if this issue is due to a recent Windy app update or possibly a minor Android update that's now grouping notifications. I haven’t found any new or changed settings on the phone that would explain it, though.

This is how the Windy notifications appear initially - fully collapsed, not showing anything.

      6e1804d8-5b22-4733-a4b9-aa466a8df52f-image.png

Once I click on the down chevron, the second layer is expanded - showing at least something.

      d04dda62-27c2-4123-9968-1c454164dde1-image.png

And then, finally, I need to click two more down chevrons to open both notifications fully.

    • Route planner with imported GPX not following route and distance wrong

Hi, I've been playing around with the route planner, but something is not right. I have made a screen recording that you can watch here.

I plan all my hikes with CalTopo and the route data (profile, elevation, length, etc.) is always very accurate.

So after importing the GPX that I exported from CalTopo, you can see that the route is correctly outlined and numbered from 1-99 (where does that come from?), but there are now several issues on the Windy route planner:

      1. It says at the bottom left that the route is 19.7 km long. This is way off. CalTopo shows that it's 15.7 km. And the recorded track of the actual hike is about 17 km - and this was with several 'side quests' off route. So even including those, the length displayed in Windy is completely wrong.

      2. The weirdest thing is what you can see on the screen recording. When I move the cursor along the graph at the bottom, you can see that the white blinking indicator on the map is moving in some very chaotic and random manner that makes zero sense. It always moves way off route and doesn't follow it at all.

      3. But also, when I get to the right edge of that graph at the bottom, the small gray box above the cursor (vertical line) stops at 15 km - which would more or less correspond to the correct length of the planned route.

What is going on here? Thanks for checking and fixing this.

    • UI changes/glitches?

Hi, I've just opened the Windy website as usual, and see that kind of messy overlay in the top left covering the temperature value/forecast, plus the four empty panels below that. What is that? This happens both when I'm logged into my account or, as shown here, in an incognito window (hence the cookie banner). Also, the map is empty, of course - both in the 'normal' browser window as well as in the incognito window. But clicking anywhere on the map or any of the menus on the right, makes all those empty panels disappear and also that weird overlay.
