The new UI makes no sense at all on desktop:
- the little graphical bubbles are useless, they do not provide any sort of information on the kind of information they provide while taking much more space, limiting de facto the number of elements visible;
- the order is non-deterministic, the bubbles are sorted on whatever. It is impossible to create a custom order nor to group by theme. I.E: when pinned, rain, temperature, rain accumulation, No2 and radar show up in this dreadful order! Why would data related to rain be scattered like that?
- Putting everything on the right side pane is a non-sense, separating elements (read favorites and profile) is a must! The red cross button is useless when navigating the favorites. I want to access the layers immediately, and for wherever I want. The two panes are now mutually exclusive and forces me to click twice when they where both accessible previously. I can access the favorites from the layer view BUT NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! This is nuts!!!
- The preview rectangles in the layer pane serve no purpose rather than being "pretty". Unless you can make these dynamic I don’t care what a layer looks like if it cannot immediately express what it is made for. The icons where much much more readable.
It really feel that you’ve made a mistake trying to unify the UIs. A good touchscreen interface is not a good desktop UI and vice-versa.
Generally speaking, the global affordance of Windy when waaay down with this update.
I reckon this is not something you want if you are on the lookout for new subscribers.
A crude GRIB viewer is becoming more usable than your product, while being free…
I will certainly reconsider my subscription at the next renewal date.
