    • RE: Quicker Way to Switch Forecast Models

      @Suty
      @idefix37

      I totally agree with the idea of adding an icon or button to quickly open the model selection. Using the “Compare forecasts” option isn’t very convenient for me, because I’m usually interested in looking at a specific layer (like rain, wind, etc.) with a different forecast model — not comparing data for one single location. So being able to switch models quickly while viewing the same map would make a big difference!

      Of course, that’s just my personal opinion and I really appreciate you taking the time to consider the feedback!

      It’s not a fail. They can just make it better. Or give us the option to turn off it. In general it’s useful

    • Precipitation Type Icons on Radar

      Hello Windy Team,

      I would like to suggest a feature that could greatly enhance the user experience. It would be incredibly helpful if the radar could display icons or visual markers to indicate the type of precipitation, such as snow, freezing rain, or other weather phenomena.

      Thank you!

      @Wheats

      Yes sure. The animation freezes while the timeline bar continues to move. Is it a bug or it’s normal? (I am using the Windy app latest version 44.1.2, IPhone 16 pro max IOS 18.2.1)

      I uploaded a recording of my screen.

    • Quicker Way to Switch Forecast Models

      Hi Windy team,

      First of all, thank you for your amazing app.

      I was wondering if you have any plans to make the forecast model selection more accessible. Right now, having to open the menu and scroll down to switch between models can be a bit tedious, especially when comparing them quickly.

      Would it be possible to implement a quicker way to change models, perhaps directly from the main screen or through a more convenient shortcut?

      Thanks again for your great work!

      @idefix37

      I think it’s a good idea, it would help keep the main screen cleaner.

      Personally, I’d still prefer having a dedicated button right on the main screen, just to make it as quick and accessible as possible.

      But of course, that’s something for the developers to decide in the end!

    • RE: Custom color scale changes map background to white

      @idefix37

      I found the solution, thanks!

      Thanks to your screenshot, I realized that the issue with the white map background after applying a custom color scale was caused by the color assigned to the zero value.

      In my case, I had set 0 to a very light color close to white, which made the entire map background appear white.

      I changed it to a dark gray instead, and now the map background looks just like the default again.

      I just realized what you meant in the other topic 😂

      Really appreciate your help

    • RE: New Model Sources

      @TheRadarGuy

      Honestly, I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Users have been requesting high-resolution models for Switzerland and Italy for years, and every time the answer is that they will ‘consider’ it, but nothing ever happens. Meanwhile, new features that feel unnecessary get added, and useful ones sometimes get removed for no clear reason. So I’m not very confident they’ll introduce these models anytime soon.

    • Satellite Animation Freezes While Time Bar Continues

      Hello,
      I’ve encountered a bug in the Windy app when using the satellite view. The issue occurs when I start the satellite animation: the image freezes at some point, while the time bar continues to progress normally. This results in losing approximately 25-30 minutes of satellite imagery.

      Windy app version: 44.1.2
      Device/Software: IPhone 16 pro max / IOS 18.2.1

      This is a recording of my screen.

    • RE: Precipitation Type Icons on Radar

      @idefix37

      Ventusky uses a combination of radar, weather models and algorithms to determine the type of precipitation (rain, snow, hail, etc.) I guess

    • RE: Any plans for a UI redesign?

      @Suty

      Thanks for your reply!

      I don’t think Windy needs a complete redesign. The functionality is already excellent, and I wouldn’t want that to change.

      What I mean is more of a visual refresh. For example:

      • More modern buttons and controls, with a cleaner and more polished look.
      • Updated colors and a more vibrant visual style. Some parts of the interface (grey backgrounds, red buttons, etc.) feel a bit dated.
      • Smoother animations and transitions to make the app feel more fluid.
      • A refresh of some UI elements, such as the timeline and layer controls (especially Radar and Satellite), which currently remind me of apps from 10 years ago.
      • Better spacing, typography and icons to give the app a more premium feel without changing how it works.

      I think apps like Instagram, Apple apps, or other modern mobile apps are good examples of interfaces that feel clean, elegant and up to date.

      Windy is one of the best weather apps available, and I simply feel that its visual design should match the quality of its features.

    • Any plans for a UI redesign?

      Hi Windy team,

      I was wondering if you have any plans to update and modernize the app’s interface and overall design. In my opinion, the current look feels a bit outdated compared to today’s app standards.

      I think an app with such powerful features deserves a more modern and polished design. A refreshed interface would make the user experience even better and would help the app look as good as it performs.

      Thanks again for all your hard work.

      @Pkrash

      Hey, calling other users names isn’t helpful. The radar idea itself is actually great, it’s just not executed very well, and the interface could definitely be improved. They could even add an option to enable or disable the layer. There’s no need to insult people. And honestly, if you don’t renew or recommend the app, do you really think the admins would care that much?

    • RE: Hourly Precipitation Forecast (Rain layer)

      @Suty

      Hello,
      I can see hourly precipitation data on the following services:

      • Ventusky: Both the app and the website display precipitation every hour (1h) for models like ICON-CH and ICON-D2, AROME.

      • Meteologix.com: This website also shows hourly precipitation forecasts for the same models.

      Regarding ecmwf only meteologix offer the hourly precipitation data. But I’m more interested in the high resolution models. :)

      I hope this helps.
