Doesn't work on Android either. "Cannot load radar images" Happens on both my Android devices.
Same for Satelite widget :(

@MarkNagy problem seems to be triggered when I automatically switch from mobile data to WiFi on VPN where server has some messed up location and my widgets are set to GPS location.
As soon as I get off WiFi problem is gone.
I'm just not sure if this is a coincidence or there is something that changed with latest update as previously WiFi wasn't a problem.
@Suty after some time it did.
Back to perpetual update on all widgets and excessive battery drain.
Radar animation isn't working in app either.
@Suty Android 14 One UI 6 here.
After last update GPS location radar, satelite, and days forecast + three favorites detail widgets all went into perpetual update mode. They would show 4 hour old content and Windy went into 25% battery use over 6 hours.
Removed all widgets, reinstalled them and the only difference was radar and satellite were big black boxes.
Went to app info - storage and cleared data and cache, uninstalled Windy app.
Reinstalled everything and tested.
All good now
@Ondřej-Šutera there is no doubt in my mind that one day I'll go kiteboarding and 5km out I'll check high resolution Windy radar widget on my Garmin watch that updated 5 minutes ago, for how far away is that storm cell.
The impossible just takes a little longer!
@Ondřej-Šutera 39.1.5 2023-08-08 fixed it for me. Thank You guys.
I'd also like to use the opportunity and ask that few things be considered for radar and satelite widgets:
Thanks in advance
@Ondřej-Šutera yes I mean the animation.
1.Radar widget used to update and run continuously. Sometimes it would glitch but it was a single tap on refresh button and problem solved. It even had transparency option so one could opt out of having a giant gray square widget.
2.Now instead of a refresh button there is a menu that opens up settings and refresh buttons. So to refresh there has to be two taps instead of one. Two taps visually do nothing. Perhaps widget gets updated but it's not reflected in animation because you have to press play to activate it. Another tap. Infact, at least two taps are needed on play button to activate animation. First seems to be activating refresh and second activating animation that runs a few cycles and stops.
And updating widget notification is still perpetually there.
Thanks for your efforts
@Ondřej-Šutera what is a point of a widget?
I'm giving unrestricted access to battery consumption, precise location and notifications just so I can have a widget that's refreshing information on hourly basis but not showing it unless I physically make almost as many clicks as it would take going through parent app???
Man this used to be simple, functional and visually pleasing.
@Ondřej-Šutera my understanding, and expectation, is that widgets auto refresh on hourly basis.
They're not doing that.
Aside from having a perpetual "Updating widget" notification that never goes away, widget animations will cycle few times than stop at random point in their sequence. They will never restart on their own and I have to manually refresh them multiple times before they will update animations, cycle them few times, randomly stop again so I'm back to manually refreshing...
@Ondřej-Šutera 2023-07-28 didn't do a thing for me. Still perpetually stuck on "Updating widget" notification and animations just stop after some time. They have to be manually refreshed at least two times before they would start working again.
Tia
@Ondřej-Šutera shortly after animations on both widgets got stuck as well :(
@Ondřej-Šutera well that worked almost an hour, perpetual updating notification is back on.
The other difference I see is stacked radar and satelite animated widgets are working where before they would get stuck and had to be manually refreshed, if any of this info means anything to you.
Again,
Version 39.1.4
Built 2023-07-21
Android 13 One UI 5.1 on SM-A526W
@Ondřej-Šutera you need to add a step of clearing cash and all data before uninstalling.
That's what solved it for me.
@Ondřej-Šutera
39.1.4 here and issues persist :(
Updated 2023-07-21
@Ondřej-Šutera same issues here.
Windy 39.1.4
Android 13 One UI5.1
Removed reinstalled...
@Korina Fully updated Galaxy A52 here and since last Windy update I can make radar widget transparent where before I couldn't.
The thing is that all layers are locked and transparent together which wasn't the case before.
This is now
and before
@Korina Big Thank You guys for fixing this in two update cycles 👍
However I don't think it was done right.
It was perfect before in a way that transparency was adjustable only for base layer filling on top of which country borders, city names, location and radar animation were solid. Precisely the way we can still control transparency for daily forecast widgets.
As it is now everything is locked into same transparency and adjustable only if we pick "Dark" or "Bright" mode, adjust brightness than lock it with choosing "Transparent".
If we can have it as before or as daily forecast widgets it would be amazing.
Thanks in advance
M
Thanks for your prompt response and shared info Ondřej 🙂
Radar widget was my reference and I'm just saying, to have that ability back to make entire widget transparent would be amazing.
Thanks 👍
