Under the hood, Windy has transitioned to Leaflet GL — a major technical upgrade that significantly improves map performance.

Thanks to extensive community testing, we are delivering a faster, more stable experience when exploring layers on both desktop and mobile.

• Improved responsiveness on mobile devices

As part of this transition, Windy now supports double-tap and drag on phones, making it faster and more intuitive to explore forecasts with one hand.
This upgrade applies to all layers except the Windy Premium 3D globe.

Until now, plugins were primarily a desktop experience. With the new version, Windy plugins are fully accessible on mobile devices.

  You need to be logged in to install and activate plugins. All plugins are automatically synced to your account via the cloud.

By optimizing performance and reducing system demands, the Lite version makes Windy available on a broader range of devices, including models with hardware limitations.

The widget works in both color and black-and-white modes:

• In color mode, it includes lightning detection (a new feature for the Weather Widget overall).
• In black-and-white mode, lightning is not displayed due to technical limitations of these devices.

In case you are having issues activating your Windy Premium subscription, please follow the steps below.

Note that purchase needs to be restored on the platform, where it was purchased, e.g., you will not be able to restore Premium on a mobile phone (in-app), if it was purchased on a desktop (via FastSpring or Paddle), but you will have to restore on a desktop as well.

Furthermore, purchasing Windy Premium will give you access to Premium features on all platforms (desktop, Android, and iOS), you do not need to purchase separately for each platform.

And as a last thing, you need to have Windy account to use Windy Premium. If you do not have one, please register here.

If you purchased on App Store or Google Play

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Windy, go to App/Google store and check if there is an update, if yes, update it

2. Open Windy on a device where you made the purchase, and log in with your Windy account, if you have not done so already

3. Initiate a window with subscription offer -> go to menu -> Windy Premium or click on the 1h forecast button in the detail of a certain location

4. Under the Annual subscription and One-time purchase options, you will find a button called 'Restore purchases'

5. Click the button

After clicking the button 'Restore purchases', you should have Windy Premium assigned to your account in case you have already bought it, but for some reason, it was not assigned.

If even this results in an error, check you have a stable internet connection and try again. If you are still experiencing trouble, please contact us at support@windy.com, and we will assist you. Please prepare your username.

If you subscribed via Desktop

1. Go to the desktop and log in with your Windy account
2. Open the subscription offer window (e.g. click on the 1h forecast button in the detail of a certain location)
3. Click on 'Restore purchases'
3. On the next page, insert the subscription Order Reference/Transaction code, you will find in your invoice from Fastspring or Paddle

If you purchased on a Huawei phone without Google Play

1. Follow the instructions for the desktop

In case this option fails, please let us know your username and email, you made the purchase with at support@windy.com.

How to know your Windy Premium is active?

Hello @Simonsez set the Wave layer as your "Start-up layer and location" and add to it the "Remember 1h/3h setting". Once you open the app next time and click on "Forecast for this location" in the picker, there will be Wave layer as a start-up as well as in the detail and as a bonus, if you were using 1-hour setting, it will be preserved. Hello @hydev, for radar and satellite, it is about ensuring the data is trustworthy and accurate, as isolines are forecast values, while radar and satellite data provide real-time weather. That's why it doesn't work. I assume you're mainly referring to that?
For forecasted layers, the isolines should remain on even after restarting the app. The only condition is that you need to be logged in to your account.
I have noticed there is currently a bug and using radar and satellite actually resets it - I have reported it to our team (@suty).

Until now, plugins were primarily a desktop experience. With the new version, Windy plugins are fully accessible on mobile devices.
