    • convective cloud base feature request

cloud base is being shown AGL, but where I fly, the Owens Valley, surrounded by some of the tallest mountains in the 48 States, AGL is pretty meaningless as it varies so widely and wildly. On the other hand cloud base is typically constant across the mountains and valleys, so reporting it ASL makes more sense.

Also I want to know where the actual base is, not where its 50% covered, as typically we fly when its less than 25% covered but need to know what the base is for that 25%.

What I'm really asking for is the convective cloud base, at what altitude ASL does the air temp drop below the dew point.

    • RE: save location's scaling, and wind-flag for the view I prefer

@Peter-A-Lawrence Oooop, forgot that I also want the "altitude" saved, I'm always wanting to know the wind at 14K, not at surface, for Mount Tinnemaha.

    • save location's scaling, and wind-flag for the view I prefer

      Sirs,
I like that I can have saved favorite locations, but

every time I go to one of them I spend an extra minute re-adjusting the "+ -" to the scale I want, and the location so I see what I want to see from the bottom to the top of the display screen, and finally I set a wind-flag at a nearby location (Mount Tinnemaha) that I can't actually search for by name and have to enlarge the view until it shows up in the map. that's really bothersome

there should be a way to save all this info with my favorite location

    • extra "favorites" locations can't be deleted ???

I have 3 "favorites" locations, confirmed when I look in the "3 bars MENU", but when I click on the "search" widget I get a nuisance 4'th location, that there doesn't seem to be any way to delete, Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot is going on, how can I delete this thing ???

    • inconsistent surface winds, BIH/CA airport

      folks,
windy is telling me the surface winds at Bishop, CA are 1~2 W,
but a BIH (Bishop airport, CA) pilots weather report says 20 kts S

I'm willing to believe the airport weather report since I fly the Owens
Valley a lot and it seems to be what I'd expect

so the question is why is windy so far off from actual observable and reported conditions.

I am aware that the Owens Valley has its own micro meteorology, especially katabatic N surface winds at night and the reverse (anti-katabatibc ?) S surface winds in the day, and these are often at odds with more global wind patterns, but these conditions are being measured and reported

I could believe that such micro-meteorology is too difficult to model, but if that's the case I'd like to hear it from the experts

      thanks,
      Peter A Lawrence.
