    • RE: Please bring back the weather picker as before

@Ondřej-Šutera Yes, I'm sure we have all tried using the new pinned menu. As a professional pilot and long time Premium user, I have many layers of interest, and pinning them has just created a big collection of randomly presented thumbnails instead of a nice, sensibly-grouped list of layers.

This is not forward progress in my opinion, I'm sad to say.

      @idefix37 Yes, I have.

I now 'enjoy'a large table of randomly sorted thumbnails, with no logical order of presentation. This is my point.

As a coastguard pilot, I'm interested in weather, wind, low cloud, sea state etc. The previous menu was very well ordered and we could turn layers on and off easily but restraining the organisation. This new pinned menu takes longer to locate a particular layer.

@jflood Another professional pilot here; this update is crap. Agree with all your points.

    • ISA deviation

Windy is awesome, hands down it really is fantastic.

One suggestion that might make it even better for those who use it for flying/aviation - and ISA temperature deviation view, under temperature, for the altitude/level selected on the slider.

This should be a fairly easy thing to do, as the models can already show the temperature at those altitudes. The ISA Standard Temperature formula is not complex either.

It might be a little niche but if there's interest in this, I throw the idea out there.

@Rickpp Yes good points, well put. I've also been a long-time user of meteoblue, and I like some of the ways they present their maps compared to Windy. It's often been nice to have access to both.

Sadly, I see the company that owns Windy has bought a majority stake in meteoblue as well. Great - I guess we can look forward to Windy nerfing that over time, too, and making a good product worse because they can't accept not messing with something that isn't broken...

    • RE: Update

I have to say that while I always try to see the bright side, I'm also a bit underwhelmed.

      Please consider:

      1. A setting to choose between old or new menu style
      2. Or, a setting for text labels or graphic thumbnails in the new menu
      3. Or, at the very least, an ability to reorder or group the thumbnails. Because instead of being sorted and grouped sensibly like before, anything I choose to pin is now thumbnailed in some random, suboptimal fashion. 🤷‍♂️

The new timeline is nice. And the improved feed sources are also good.

    • RE: No lightning on website

I've noticed this, too, but I'm not sure if it's been intentionally done. I have tested it while logged in and also in incognito mode on the desktop and in the app.

Lightning used to be shown by a lightning symbol, a 'flash' when it occurred, and a noise. I no longer get the noise (even with sounds enabled) or the noticeable flash, and the lightning symbols are otherwise very easy to miss -- especially if zoomed out to a wide area, as the symbols become tiny.

Also, in times gone by, lightning strikes would leave a 'scorched earth' brown symbol behind for a while, so we can track the movement of storms over the ground. This seems to have also been removed, unhelpfully.

I appreciate the team's hard work on Windy, but as a long-term subscriber, I think the most recent 'improvements' have been anything but. It's a shame.

@jra108 +1 for the lightning sound being returned, or made an option.
