What's more, human causes of climate change were seriously on the federal government's radar in the 1960s and a broad consensus had emerged among climate scientists by the late 1970s regarding humanity's role as the principal cause of climate change since the Industrial Revolution. We have broken Earth out of a cyclical pattern of 180 to 280 ppm and we're at 415 ppm and rising rapidly. It is shocking that we still haven't even made it to the precautionary principle 40 years later and it's getting to the point where it threatens our survival.
