I use Windy to track storms that are coming my way here in the Visayas in the central Philippines. The infrared satellite view with its the lighting detector seems most useful as it seems to show high thunderheads well.
During the summer monsoon, the winds are from southwest to northeast. Yet the clouds always seem to flow the opposite direction! That is, from northeast to southwest, against the wind.
What's going on with this? I'm originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and the winds and rain had another pattern from cold fronts from the northwest.
What's going on here in the tropics? Or is this some quirk of Windy?
