Oh yes please, push notifications on mobile are something I'm missing for a long time. Hacking that with e-mail forwarding to SMS kind of works but is PITA!

I also thins some ideas in this thread would be useful:

• multiple independent notifications for the same place,
• warning about lightning in X km radius,
• multiple conditions which need to be fulfilled at once to issue warning.

Maybe you can even make a paid feature from notifications to SMS: That would work also for "dumb phones" once user sets it up in web interface.
