    • RE: Resolving Issues with Android Widgets: A Step-by-Step Guide

      @Cthuulhuu
      I have a pixel 8 pro on Android 14 and have similar issues with the widgets. I think the recent update to the Nov security patch may have broken something. At least that seems to be around the time my windy widgets quit working.

      Edit: I just added my widgets and they are working normally at the moment. Hopefully this will stick.

      I haven't seen the battery drain issue on my main phone (pixel 8 pro) nor my backup phone (OnePlus 8 pro), but the unreliable widgets on both phones are driving me nuts. The p8p is on Android 14 and the op8p is on Android 13. Right now the widgets on my p8p aren't working but they are working on my op8p. 🤷‍♂️

      I see a couple different failure patterns. In one, the widgets are unresponsive and the 3 dot menu doesn't work. When this scenario happens, you can't even bring up the app by touching the widget. Another telltale sign of the issue is a persistent windy updating notice in the notification bar that won't clear unless I force stop the app.

      In another failure pattern, the widget 3 dot menu brings up settings and refresh buttons but they don't respond. Some minutes later they may respond.

      I have yet to establish a method that reliably fixes the widgets. Regardless how the widgets are working, I can always bring up the app and it works fine. But the widgets remain unreliable.

      When the widgets work, they're great. But when they don't, it's frustrating.

      I've tried logging out, force stopping the app, clearing cache and data, and uninstalling , rebooting, and reinstalling the app. Eventually I get the widgets working again but it's a pita to have to troubleshoot so often.

    • RE: Windy thinks I'm offline

      @Suty
      Welp. Back to the widgets broken and the app thinks I'm offline when I try to open it.

      Edit: I found my ad blocker had blocked node.windy.com. I allowed that and the app began working again. Widgets are still down but perhaps they will recover soon. Or maybe I should try a reboot.

      Edit 2: after rebooting my phone, the widgets are now working properly.

      @TS-xXGhosToastXx
      I had a similar issue on my pixel 8pro. I found my ad blocker (blokada) had blocked node.windy.com and I was getting the wow you're offline error message when I tried to run the app and my windy widgets were down.

      I'm thinking the blacklists may have updated in the background. Once I unblocked that and rebooted the phone, windy began working normally again.

      Several hours later all 3 widgets are running normally. 🤷‍♂️

    • RE: Windy thinks I'm offline

      @Suty the version is 42 1 6.

      Update: there was an update to Google play services that required a restart. After restarting, the windy app and widgets are now working. Yay!

      Stray electrons? Who knows. 🤷‍♂️

    • RE: Problém with widgets

      @Pavel-Třebín

      Try logging off and logging back into the app and see if that fixes the widgets.

      I've noticed some weird behavior of the app when my widgets quit working. I can delete cache and data and the app, reinstall the app and find I'm still somehow logged in and the widgets don't work.

      Tonight I did another cache and data delete, then recreated the widgets and they began working. I noticed I was no longer logged into the app. So I'm wondering if perhaps this is a profile issue.

      Next time my widgets quit working I'm going to try logging off and logging in and see if that fixes it

      Ok thanks. As a point of reference, I cranked up my op8p running oos13.1 and windy widgets appear to be running fine on that phone. 🤷‍♂️

    • RE: Windy premium widgets working again

      @MarkNagy said in Windy premium widgets working again:

      @speedlever Unfortunately it could be up to 30-40 minutes.

      That seems rather excessive. I've left them for days with no luck. So they seem to need something more than time to recover. Ergo my attempts to find a way to get them running again.
