    • RE: Please fix this

      @TS-xXGhosToastXx
      I had a similar issue on my pixel 8pro. I found my ad blocker (blokada) had blocked node.windy.com and I was getting the wow you're offline error message when I tried to run the app and my windy widgets were down.

      I'm thinking the blacklists may have updated in the background. Once I unblocked that and rebooted the phone, windy began working normally again.

      Welp. Back to the widgets broken and the app thinks I'm offline when I try to open it.

      Edit: I found my ad blocker had blocked node.windy.com. I allowed that and the app began working again. Widgets are still down but perhaps they will recover soon. Or maybe I should try a reboot.

      Edit 2: after rebooting my phone, the widgets are now working properly.

    • RE: Windy thinks I'm offline

      @Suty the version is 42 1 6.

      Update: there was an update to Google play services that required a restart. After restarting, the windy app and widgets are now working. Yay!

      Stray electrons? Who knows. 🤷‍♂️

    • Windy thinks I'm offline

      But I'm not. I rebooted my pixel 8pro on Android 14 today and windy thinks I'm offline. My windy widgets aren't working and when I try to start the app, it says I'm offline.

      I tried force stopping the app and clearing the app cache but no change.

      Any ideas?

    • RE: Resolving Issues with Android Widgets: A Step-by-Step Guide

      @marcorotta
      I haven't seen the battery drain issue on my main phone (pixel 8 pro) nor my backup phone (OnePlus 8 pro), but the unreliable widgets on both phones are driving me nuts. The p8p is on Android 14 and the op8p is on Android 13. Right now the widgets on my p8p aren't working but they are working on my op8p. 🤷‍♂️

      I see a couple different failure patterns. In one, the widgets are unresponsive and the 3 dot menu doesn't work. When this scenario happens, you can't even bring up the app by touching the widget. Another telltale sign of the issue is a persistent windy updating notice in the notification bar that won't clear unless I force stop the app.

      In another failure pattern, the widget 3 dot menu brings up settings and refresh buttons but they don't respond. Some minutes later they may respond.

      I have yet to establish a method that reliably fixes the widgets. Regardless how the widgets are working, I can always bring up the app and it works fine. But the widgets remain unreliable.

      When the widgets work, they're great. But when they don't, it's frustrating.

      I've tried logging out, force stopping the app, clearing cache and data, and uninstalling , rebooting, and reinstalling the app. Eventually I get the widgets working again but it's a pita to have to troubleshoot so often.

    • RE: Windy premium widgets working again

      @MarkNagy said in Windy premium widgets working again:

      @speedlever Unfortunately it could be up to 30-40 minutes.

      That seems rather excessive. I've left them for days with no luck. So they seem to need something more than time to recover. Ergo my attempts to find a way to get them running again.

      How long is 'some time'? I gave it several minutes but nothing changed until I recreated the widgets. 🤷‍♂️

      I just restarted my pixel 8 pro and the widgets are broken again. They just show a black screen where they should be. Refresh button does not come up.

      I've logged off and back on, deleted cache and data, and reset permissions but the widgets refuse to work.

      Sigh. Here we go again. Eventually I'm sure they'll start to work again, but I have no idea what combo of fixes I try actually restore the widgets back to working order.

      Edit: I deleted the widgets and recreated them and now they're working again. 🤦‍♂️

      Update. This morning all windy widgets were black and I decided to log out of the app, then went into my apps and deleted cache and data. Went to the home screen when I have the windy widgets and they were working again.

      I tweaked the opening page from wind to weather radar, everything else was already as I desired, logged back into the app and the widgets are running fine.

      What a mystery!

      That is unfortunate. And frustrating as a user. The widgets will work normally for some period of time, then they just quit working for unknown reasons.

      I have widgets running for other apps without issue.

      Rather than start a new post, I updated to the February security update on my pixel 8 pro and none of the widgets are working now. I've force stopped the app and logged off and back in with no luck.

      My next thing to try is clear cache and data, uninstall and reinstall and try again.

      Edit: no luck clearing cache and data, uninstalling, rebooting, installing and logging in again. Widgets still aren't working.

      @jhp10e
      What phone and os? I've had trouble with the widgets recently. Not updating and such on my pixel 8 pro on Android 14.

      It's back to working normally. Try this: log off the app and then log back on. Go into apps and force stop the app.

      Give it a few minutes and see if that resolves the issue.

      I noticed my widgets wouldn't refresh this morning and the radar widget last updated at 0235 local time.

      I logged off then logged back in and shortly after the widgets began working again.

    • RE: Problém with widgets

      @Pavel-Třebín

      Try logging off and logging back into the app and see if that fixes the widgets.

      I've noticed some weird behavior of the app when my widgets quit working. I can delete cache and data and the app, reinstall the app and find I'm still somehow logged in and the widgets don't work.

      Tonight I did another cache and data delete, then recreated the widgets and they began working. I noticed I was no longer logged into the app. So I'm wondering if perhaps this is a profile issue.

      Next time my widgets quit working I'm going to try logging off and logging in and see if that fixes it

    • Windy premium widgets working again

      On my pixel 8 pro\Android 14. I again deleted cache and data and this time the widgets began working after recreating them.

      The difference this time seemed to be that my account was logged off. Not sure how my account stayed logged on before after wiping cache and data, but it did.

      Next time I see the widgets quit working, I'll try to remember to log off and log back in and see if that fixes the widgets.

      Ok, I deleted the cache and data of the app, then uninstalled the app. I got a fresh copy of the app and installed it. It still shows me signed into premium and remembered most of my custom settings.

      Widgets are still blank. 🤷‍♂️

      @Ondřej-Šutera I gave the app unrestricted battery. The widgets were running fine for several weeks and then quit updating for some reason. No idea why.

      Same here on a pixel 8 pro on Android 14. The widgets were working fine, then stopped updating several days ago.

      I deleted the app, rebooted the phone, reinstalled the app and gave it unrestricted battery access and notifications. I recreated the widgets and they remain blank. This is using windy premium.

      Ok thanks. As a point of reference, I cranked up my op8p running oos13.1 and windy widgets appear to be running fine on that phone. 🤷‍♂️
