    • RE: Maximum and Minimum Temperature

      I would similarly like to see forecast max/min temps included in the suite of weather parameters.

      It is an available field on most NWP models.

      Could this be coded into the Windy platform similarly to the Fire spread/Fuel moisture display? Daily display.

      Try using the Plugin "Multipicker" and then set up which parameters you want to display in the Picker window

    • Short-cut keys for PC users

      I have raised this before but will have another plug at highlighting a potential usability improvement for PC users.

      Ahead of the next platform update, can the developers look into adding a keyboard short-cut key to allow changing of the displayed NWP model????

      There are short-keys already available to advance the fcst hour time, change between weather model parameters and forecast levels. These are GREAT.

      One option not available is changing between NWP models.

      I am currently using the plugin "flyXC" to visualise the vertical profile on point locations - thank you to the developer of this plugin.
      Where I am getting to here is, having the availability to change NWP models quickly and in addition to allowing for other changes like parameter and fcst level changes from the keyboard.

      I will throw in request #2 : can you change the default time period for rain/wind-accumulation to 24hrs instead of the current 12hrs, or provide the option between 12/24hr in Setup .
      Forecasters generally like to view weather and changes over 24hrs moreso than 12hrs - well I do.

      Got my fingers and toes crossed....over to you!!! Thx.

    • RE: Switching between weather models now takes 3 clicks

      Totally agree with above comments re change to the toolbar at the bottom of the viewing window...."if it ain't broke, don't fix it!".

      Is there a reason for the change to the structure of the UI?????

      I have posted a suggestion in the past that may resolve this issue for PC users ---- provide some "keyboard short-cut keys" allowing accessing to and changing of NWP models in addition to the current method of mouse clicking. The Windy Team have made available short-cut keys for some other functions.

    • RE: Allow for model rearrange or show all models on desktop

      @Suty Could the developers consider adding a keyboard short-cut to toggle between the available models instead of needing to mouse over the selection bar AND a user option to re-arrange the model selection order, so favoured models are adjacent to each other.

      @michele7

      this was commented as a good idea back in 2023.....would be a nice addition improving the functionality of the keyboard and quick access to NWP model choice.

      For the PC user, keyboard control wins hands down against mouse control every day.

    • RE: Include the color palette table to the main display window

      @idefix37 .........that works perfectly for me as well. I just need to see the number and the cell color. And when you change the weather element, the scale changes/updates as well....Perfect!

    • Include the color palette table to the main display window

      Could I offer a suggestion/modification to the viewing window (with an optional switch) -->> display the color scale table for the selected weather parameter.

      I have customised many of the weather elements and presently view the color table through the "customize color scale" editor (see below).

      With the color scale modified for certain ranges, having a visual reference table makes understanding the image content so much easier. The provided scale at the bottom right corner just doesn't cut-it.

      I would appreciate it if you could make the table available as an option viewable on the main window display. Example ....

    • RE: New UI is a really bad idea

      @peterh337 there is EC model data within the MeteoBlue model list (not as many fields compared to Windy) but it also has ICON (worthy challenger) along with others. For my area of interest, the Australian region...this is available 35dc440a-317b-4c07-bc60-a5a7280cf90c-image.png

      My preference is Windy over MeteoBlue whilst working, however, I can't efficiently navigate around the current Windy UI. MeteoBlue offers an alternate site that has added features that I view as beneficial for the cost.

      I have also wondered about the EC model's forecast resolution available to Windy for use within a public site. I know of another site that provides non-restricted access to EC data but at a resolution of 25km. The good stuff at 9km I would believe is available to paying customers (and is not cheap). I haven't asked but is Windy using 25km or 9km EC data?

    • RE: New Position of Altitude Slider very bad

      On A PC (in my case Windows OS), the keys "page up" and "page down" will allow you to ascend or descend through the vertical levels. I don't use the slider, I use the keyboard to skip through the levels.

      @B-Low

      Have been a Windy user for a long, long time, and as of next week my subscription runs out (not to be renewed). I spent my $'s on MeteoBlue. Not as smooth as the previous version of Windy but there are many other nice model/display features available for subscribers. It costs a bit more than Windy but I am happy to pay and try for now in the hope that maybe Windy will sort this mess of a UI out in the not-too-distant future (or maybe they'll take a few more bruises for now and stick to their vision with this new UI).

      This is what I am looking at now on my laptop for the same pinned icons before the UI change.....

      19be4794-ae45-44e3-afd1-a68bb5bf3f7b-image.png

      So now I have to commit to memory which combination/pattern of colors each icon represents as a forecast field.

      At least do us the courtesy of making the icons more distinguishable or recognisable to the weather field it is representing.

      It is a very pretty but meaningless array of icons.

      I reckon this is my final rant ..... you have served me well in the past Windy, onto new pastures.

      @Suty @Korina

      Can someone provide the reasoning/advantages please with the change to the forecast parameter structure????

      Where is the benefit of using symbols as opposed to the previous listing structure which had the "advanced feature" where I could tailor which elements I wanted access to?

      DO NOT LIKE the new format........

    • RE: Forecast period representing the wind gust value in ECMWF meteogram

      @Suty

      Are the meteogram images generated in-house or are they sourced through ECMWF or another party? If in-house, are you able to seek which ECMWF gust field code is used for the Meteogram display?

      From the ECMWF HiRes 10-day dataset:
      10fg6 (10m gust in last 6hrs),
      10g (10m gust in since previous post-processing),
      10fg3 (10m gust in last 3hrs),
      and i10g (instantaneous 10m gust).

      There are a few options available. I use the EC gust as a forecasting parameter and would like to get confirmation as to the gust sampling time.

      Thanks.

    • Forecast period representing the wind gust value in ECMWF meteogram

      Windy team developers, can you provide the 10m wind gust field used in the meteogram window for the ECMWF model? Is it 1/ instantaneous wind gusts, 2/ 10m wind gusts in the last 3 hrs, or 3/ 10m wind gusts in the last 6hrs?
      181c665c-17b4-42bc-a57e-8f02de4bcbab-image.png

      Looking at the above example, the wind speed and gust speed at say 12pm onwards (through the afternoon) is not sensible. 4-7km/h mean wind speed and 20-35km/hr gust speeds. And I am familiar with this location and likely winds.

      Would I be correct in saying the wind gust forecast is taken over the previous 6hrs, maybe 3hrs?

      Thanks.

      you can get more creative with the color palette and add narrow bands of color as a proxy line to highlight a threshold value - in the above image 'gale force winds'.

    • RE: Tracking storms and typhoons

      @kkorona here is a nice example of what I was describing above with a possible TC developing off the NW coast of Australia later in the week. The forecast pointer shows 71kt (gusts) and highlights continual TC development before curvature to the right and weakening. Then the system proceeds to redevelop as it straight lines it towards the Indian Ocean. The path and intensity of forecast gust wind speeds are clearly shown over 10 days. The pressure pattern is for ECMWF TUE 19th at 12Z.
