Hi Just reading some of the posts, what a huge job you have addressing issues all around the planet!
I have been sailing around the Med - Italian and Greek waters for 2 months and finding the ECMWF wind models consistently understate what is experienced by 25-30% in wind range above 10-12 knots. Other sailors have also commented that they just use the Wind Gusts forecast.
Sitting here in 30 knots gusting to 40 Knots where ECMWF is saying 16 and gusts to 21. Advancing the timing by 5 hours gives forecasts closer but still 10-15% understated.
Otherwise a great programme and we always use it and plan from it - making our own assessments.
