@Suty This is why I don't update the app anymore, until checking the forums. I'll stay with the previous version of the app. ✌️

    • RE: Latest update. Airgram Removes Cloud Profile!

And, the cloud profile in the Airgram has been returned to the desktop. So, as a workaround, we can view it on our phones by choosing 'desktop site' .

I am so looking forward to the cloud profile returning in the app. It makes the Windy Airgrams, the best of their kind in the world. 🙏✌️

@Suty Sadly, the more popular a project becomes, the more often there will be the occasional offensive post, complaining. 🙏

    • RE: I DON'T TRUST YOU!

@JJager That's just a really unkind way to express your disappointment. Sure, share your frustrations but to say it like that says more about you, than the service you are criticising.

Windy is not 'predicting' which is an indication of your limited experience. Windy offers modelling, from various providers, which we are called to assess and compare. Windy has the best weather app offering by far, IMO, although of course it does have some imperfections.

The modelling for the most recent snowfall in my area was spot on - because I was aware of the limitations of each model and assessed those limits accordingly.

@Suty Thank-you. I just wish we were informed about the problematic changes in the latest release of the app, so we could have held back on the update.

    • RE: Latest update. Airgram Removes Cloud Profile!

@Suty It's frustrating not having cloud profiles in the Airgrams. I feel sad that I updated my phone to the latest app version.

Any idea on how long it will be until we get the cloud profile back in the Airgrams? A few weeks? Longer?

    • RE: ECMWF

@Keith-Chandler Yes, it's a model. It can't really over-promise because the data it offers should be viewed in the light of its limitations.

Local knowledge with forecasting, is also important. EC in my area gets temperatures 'wrong' because of the greatly variable terrain. It averages out the altitude across a given grid point. So, I need to adjust for the altitude of my town, to get a more accurate forecast.

    • RE: Airgram Changes? Less intuitive?

@Suty Thanks so much. I can understand changes but this one was very confusing. Seeing the 850hPa temperature and corresponding that with cloud cover throughout the atmospheric layers is crucial to snow forecasting in my country (Australia) where snow is a marginal event. The difference between a snowfall and just cold rain is crucial in forecasting. And Windy Airgrams were the best in the business. 🙏

    • Latest update. Airgram Removes Cloud Profile!

Oh no. This is a vital part of snow forecasting in my area of the Blue Mountains, Australia.

You've removed the cloud profile in the Airgram!

I mentioned this to Windy about the desktop version losing the cloud profile and now it's happened on the app.

This isn't good. I love Windy and use it all the time but sadly, it's losing some of its appeal.

      Why was this change made?

    • RE: Airgram Changes? Less intuitive?

Any news on the desktop version of Windy that has this problem? It's still problematic looking at the Airgram without any cloud indicators, which is very important during a cold front and snow like we are having in my region at the moment.

    • Airgram Changes? Less intuitive?

      Hi folks,

Love windy and use it every day.

I've noticed a change on the desktop version of Windy Airgrams where we no longer see the cloud profile from the surface to higher levels of the atmosphere. It's still there on the phone app but not on the desktop. This makes it harder to view freezing level at 850hPa and how it corresponds to cloud development through the layers. I have to switch back and forth from Airgram and Meteogram on the desktop.

I have tested this both in Chrome desktop browser and Firefox.

You can see the difference on the desktop (top image) and phone app (bottom image).

    • Bugs With Latest Version On Android

      1000022132.jpg Hi all,

I love Windy but it's buggier on Android now. It's quite easy to accidentally leave the Windy app when pressing on the menu at the bottom, as menu items are directly over the return to desktop function.

Also, in landscape mode, I can't choose menu items at all. I end up accidentally pressing phone buttons and leaving the app unintentionally...

I've got a Samsung A35 with up to date OS. Was the latest version of Windy tested well in Android? It feels harder to use now.

    • RE: Weird Map Rendering on Desktop

      @NikiD Hi Niki,

      Thanks Niki

What helped was locating my site settings in Chrome browser and deleting the Windy site data and permissions. Then everything was working again after logging back in. I was having the same problem on my Android phone and Linux desktop browser - both using Chrome. Weird rendering issues with MSLP. But the app worked fine. I didn't need to use another browser, even though that also worked.

Everything did work well in Firefox and also on my wife's PC, so I figured it was some configuration corruption in Chrome with Windy settings. Once I deleted all site data and signed back in, everything is working fine, even on my phone via the mobile website.

    • Weird Map Rendering on Desktop

      Hi Folks,

Love Windy, use it every day!

I can't understand what has been happening on the desktop compared to the phone app.

When i look at the 27/5 May forecast maps for Australia on my phone (a significant weather event) I can view the 850hPa temperature and MSLP but when I try to do it on my desktop with the same parameters, I get a confusing map rendering. What is happening?

      Phone (app)

      windyweirdmap3.jpg

      Desktop

I don't understand what this desktop map is showing with the same parameters selected (MSLP and temperature at 850hPa)

    • RE: MeteoBlue In Australia. Wanting To Learn More...

@idefix37 Thanks very much for your reply. It has been very accurate overnight for the drizzle in my area, which is very hard to predict via traditional modelling for many years. It has even predicted when this drizzle would stop to the hour, when other models have not. Part of that is probably related to the correct altitude for my village, rather then most models that average the altitude for a given area, which makes a big difference with low cloud drizzle.

It would be great to get more info from Windy app on MeteoBlue as they now have a good share in it's ownership, I understand.

    • MeteoBlue In Australia. Wanting To Learn More...

      Hi Everyone,

I love Windy and use it every day. Just the best app in the world for weather.

I am still trying to understand MeteoBlue as it appears to be quite accurate indeed compared to other models (especially for drizzle) for my hilly/mountainous area west of Sydney, Australia. I live at 1080M above sea level.

MeteoBlue is AI, that collects data from many models?

Is MeteoBlue constantly updating, hence why it doesn't give a model update time on Windy?

Does MeteoBlue actually have a resolution, being that it is AI data collected from many models?

Windy doesn't seem to offer more information on MeteoBlue under 'About These Data' options?

      Many thanks. :)

    • RE: ACCESS-C coverage for Australia

This is a huge addition to Windy app. I haven't used the web version for a week or so and didn't notice ACCESS-C until today, as we have severe thunderstorms in our area.

Can't wait for the app to include ACCESS-C.

The ACCESS-C predictions for Wednesday are a good addition to ECMWF as we can see ACCESS-C has much higher estimates for showers. This is of course, an indication of convection and storms and not necessarily indicative of what my region will see but the potential is there in heavier storm activity.

    • When Viewing Favourites I Can't Zoom Out On Map as Weather Picker Changes Location...

      Hi all,

I generally really like Windy Subscription version but the new weather picker is annoying when viewing my favourites, ie: My own town. If I zoom out to view the model in more detail, it changes my location. The old weather picker was better. It's really important to be able to zoom out the MSLP charts for example whilst viewing the airgram data which can't be done anymore, to my mind, as the weather picker when zooming out moves away from my favourite location.
