I'm a Windy Premium user, and at home I run Home Assistant for home automation and dashboards. I'm interested in integrating weather forecasting from a trusted source into my Home Assistant. My local government agency (Australia's Bureau of Meteorology) is outright hostile to any automated API access and/or screen scraping, so I'm looking at Windy as an alternative.
Obviously, a Professional API key is overkill for such a use-case, not to mention prohibitively expensive for home use. The only other option is a Trial key, which is free but returns deliberately inaccurate data. My questions therefore are:
- Is the degree of modification of Trial data minimal enough that it's still usable for a home user? If I'm mostly just interested in forecasts, it doesn't have to be 100% accurate.
- Will Windy ever introduce a Basic or Home tier for a small cost, that permits say 10 or 20 requests per day of accurate data (compared to the 500 requests per day of a Trial key, which is more suited to development where you're repeatedly testing)?
- If so, would Windy offer this tier for free to Premium users who are already paying them?
Thanks
