    • RE: How accurate this windy.com is ?

@karlosgm Windy strives to be as accurate as possible. There are several different weather models available on Windy. The ECMWF is probably the most accurate. ICON EU is a new model introduced here a couple of months ago and can forecast most of Iceland. It is also very accurate. The GFS model is another good model but doesn't work too well in my part of the world. You might have a better experience with it in Iceland. Everybody has a different experience when using windy. So give different models a try and get used to the site to get the best results.

And wind gusts are already a feature on windy. Try clicking on the more layers button on the right layer menu, there should be a selection of many different layers where wind gusts should be near the top.

    • RE: Options to view the Canadian models, RDPS and GDPS

@Tomber42 @Wheats @kyle88204 Actually, the open data you are looking for is available here: http://dd.weather.gc.ca/

In fact, most models available from the Canadian Meteorological Centre just got a major update today. The GDPS got a resolution shrink from 25 km to 15 km (which I may point out is currently better than the GFS). There are other changes, but that is the biggest one. All the details on the updates can be found here: http://collaboration.cmc.ec.gc.ca/cmc/CMOI/product_guide/docs/changes_e.html

Finally, I would just like to mention the HRDPS model which would be a nice add to Windy. It is Canada's answer to the HRRR. It has a resolution of 2.5 km and is updated four times a day.

    • RE: Radar data needed! Help us with the data gathering

I am fairly certain that Canada offers free use of weather radar. I'll see what I can do. I'll also do my best to check if other countries offer free radar.

@konleto Currently, favourites are only sorted alphabetically. But custom ordering will probably be available soon in an upcoming update.

@swarr The app is designed that way. Every time the app re-opens, it shows the ECMWF model by default.

    • RE: Display hurricane tracks

@jswai Windy currently does not display hurricane tracks at all. However, you can simply play through various layers like wind or rain, for example, to visualize how the hurricane will track over time.

    • RE: API V4 free version (gfs) thunderstorm forecast such as in ECMWF (?)

@dpantioras The thunderstorm layer is only possibly for ECMWF because it is the only model we have that actually forecasts thunderstorms. The GFS can't do this unfortunately.

    • RE: Suggestion for aviation : freezing level

@gildnn We already have a freezing altitude layer you can use. Just click "show more layers", then select the "freezing altitude" layer. Click anywhere on the map to see the the freezing layer.

    • RE: Would you like to report your weather station data to Windy? (depreciated)

This sounds like a great idea! Glad to know its something on the horizon to expect.

      1. I currently have the AcuRite 3 in 1 weather station, but now that the AcuRite Atlas is now released I am probably going to upgrade to that in the near future
      2. I currently report my station data to Weather Underground
      3. I share the data through AcuRite's own data share feature from https://www.myacurite.com
      4. If you could somehow use a similar sharing method to what Weather Underground uses, that should enable most users to share their data easier
      5. I would be willing to share my station data to anyone, as long as it's not too complicated

@Snowowl I agree that is a bit weird. Especially that its just that area that has "No Data". I've seen this happen a few times but it doesn't last for long. My best guess would be something to do with how the radar data is gathered in the first place.

    • RE: Artificial issue in forecast

@Bronskyblu You are right, this is not natural. But this is not clouds, the image you shared is from the historic radar layer. And it is not a forecast, it is past images taken between 1 and 12 hours ago. That is likely some interference on the radar dish or an issue removing interference on the radar image. This happens occasionally and usually disappears in a few hours.
