    • *WOW* - how can I contribute $$ ??

      Windy Team!!

I can't believe it took me until today to find this tool. AMAZING.

I am a pilot and a boater, and have been looking for aviation weather, general weather forecasts, and wave / wave forecasts in one easy to use, super-cool tool and BAM! Here is it....

Hopefully you have found a way to monetize and keep Windy dev going strong and rolling out new features, fixing bugs etc.... After an exhaustive search (probably just me) there doesn't seem to be a way for a user to send some financial assistance. I love the FREE model, however every once in a while something free is so fantastic you don't mind paying.

Let us all know how to chip in if you are accepting donations for the cause ??

I am usually only active on Windy in the summer months (USA), but recently noticed a very easy DONATE button in Windy now.....

Please consider a recurring monthly donation to keep Windy growing!

No affiliation, not a paid contributor. Just a pilot and boater here, Windy gives the BEST data set and forecast !!!

    • RE: Distance and Planning - IFR cross section help

@twominute000 You can use the VFR tool for this type of flight. Layers shown up to 10,000'. I'd like that presentation but up to a set altitude like FL300 or so.CaptureMetar2.JPG

    • RE: Distance and Planning - IFR cross section help

Doesn't look like anyone uses windy profile views for cloud layers? Is there anyway to customize these profile views better? The VFR tool shows cloud layers, but only to 10,000'. Need better layers for the route to the flight levels?

    • Distance and Planning - IFR cross section help

I don't see the following in any post or tutorial....

      1. in the IFR cross section - how to discern cloud layers?
      2. in the IFR cross section - can max FL be set? FL450 is too high. Would be nice to set this to FL250 to make the chart less condenced and more useful for our altitudes
      3. in the IFR cross section - can the FL and Baro be moved so you can actually see it (wind barbs cover it right now)

What is the best practice to get cloud layers along a route from Surface to FL210 ? Similar to another app like this:

I am looking for a way to plan flights and pick altitudes to stay OUT of the clouds. Thanks!
