    • RE: Default model selection

      @WildOrangutan

      +1
      Other weather apps have a more practical design - allowing the user to preselect their preferred weather model - which is then the source for both app and widget.

      Windy, sadly, uses ECMWF as the default which then, unless ECMWF is your preferred model, has to be changed every time the user opens the app and renders the widget useless.

    • Model selection

      Is it possible to pre-select an alternative to ECMWF as the weather forecast model used in the widgets and in the default display.

      The reason being that, in my area, ECMWF is not the most accurate.

    • Widget weather model

      I my area the only model that works consistently is ICON. However, the default model for the widget is ECMWF and this does not sync with the selected model within the app.
      Is it possible to sync, the widget and app model ?

      Users should be able to select and then lock their preferences.

    • RE: Widget weather model

      I note that Windy has just been updated. Metro Blue is now available as a model source.

      I was hoping that the opportunity had been taken to synchronise the selected model to the widgets - as they are truly useless, unless ECMWF is your preferred model.

      Also, once a model is selected it would be helpful to retain that model when the app is reopened. Rather than mine through the menu every time after closing the app.

      Most, if not all, other apps synchronise with the widget and retain the selected model as the new default.

    • RE: Regressing....it's 2025 and we STILL can't save a startup model

      I'm not experiencing this problem. Unless I've entirely misunderstood the OP.🙄

      On my Samsung S21 Ultra if I have the table widget set to Arome and tap the widget to open the app, the app opens correctly in Arome + set location, layer and time step. Also works with ICON.✅

      @MarkNagy

      Thank you.

      When clicking on location, on the watch, there is a pause then the screen blanks - then quickly reverts to location selection, as previously.
      No custom selection ever becomes available.

      @MarkNagy
      Thank you.
      Synchronised phone and watch as suggested. But, still only current location on watch for radar, forecasts etc. No stored locations shown as location options.

      One aspect that has improved is that the phone radar stored locations now works after the app update to 45.1.3.

    • Location issues

      On my Samsung watch Classic 4 the tile only allow current location.

      Locations stored on my phone, S25 Ultra, are not shown.

      Location access is on, full time.
      Battery unrestricted.
      Cache cleared.
      App reinstalled several times.

      Additionally, the radar widget on my phone only works on current location.

      No issues with the table widgets. Stored locations are recognised.

    • RE: Widget won't launch app (new)

      Beta program is full, so can't rejoin and test.

      Opening of the standard app from any widget is fine. No issues.

    • Radar display is too dark

      Maybe the radar map looks better on a big screen. I don't know because I only use a phone and watch - and on my Samsung watch & S21 Ultra the radar screen is just too dark.

      Can you not give an option for lighter terrain and background ?

      I have tried, without success, to improve the appearance by changing the settings.

      +1with beta.
      Misbehaved immediately after app update. App opens and collapses if activation is attempted through any widget.
      Error message on screen: this app has a bug, delete and wait for developer update.

      Have left beta. Standard version, 44.1.2, OK.

    • Superimpose radar and precipation forecast

      A radar layer added to a precipitation forecast is very useful as a quick check on model accuracy.

      I use Flowx, which has this feature, and most of the time raw data needs mentally tweaking - mimicking MOS.
      Having two metrics superimposed would allow the user to make a judgement whether forecast precipitation was ahead, behind on right on time - compared to radar.

    • Auto update radar on watch

      Is there any way radar can be updated automatically on my Samsung watch ?

      At present the only way is to activate animation - which is super quick on a phone but very, very slow on a watch.

      @Suty
      Synchronisation of auto updates works fine, all widgets update together.

      Lack of synchronisation for manual updates is the issue.
