    • Pressure isolines are not kept

I'd like to always have pressure isolines active, but it keeps switching off under several scenarios.

      • Wind layer -> activate pressure iso. -> switch to sat or weather view: pressure isolines are lost.
      • If you have settings -> start-up layer -> "weather" set (not "last"), this will automatically turn off isolines every time you re-visit the site, even if the last layer was already the weather layer with pressure iso. active!
      • Something similar also happens on the app, although I use it more rarely so I'm exact about scenarios.

@Suty After quite a while, I'm still annoyed that when I switch back to the wind layer I often find the pressure isolines disabled just by switching layers.

    • RE: Pressure isolines are not kept

@Ondřej-Šutera the problem with this approach is that when switching views on a new browser session I keep having to switch isolines back on. Esp. on the mobile app, it's inconvenient to do currently.

Would it possible to store this setting on a per-view basis?

    • RE: Wind speed legend does not match custom wind speed color scale

@Suty This issue has always been present. I'm happy to see there's already multiple reports for this issue.
Customizing the color scale with while showing the stock color bar is ... annoying.

And since we're at it, I see that @idefix37 also likes to have a stepped color scale. I do the same. It would be nice to be able to disable color interpolation instead of having to work it around like this.

    • Arrow-field wind layer instead of particle animation

Is it possible to have a more classical arrow field layer for the wind layers instead of the particle animation? Something that looks like the meteoblue's "wind" layer, for a concrete example.

The particle animation is definitely nice, but after using windy for more than one year, I'm no longer here for the wow factor and I find it doesn't offer the same legibility as a regular field. It often also gives me the impression of a false sense of precision.

I know I can switch it off in the preferences, but that hides the wind direction from the map, making it half useless.

I assume the data is there on the client, so rendering an arrow field locally is probably possible, and likely even less expensive to render compared to a boring arrow field.

      🙏

    • Wind data from openwindmap as an extra source

I've discovered another source for local weather stations that can be browsed from https://www.openwindmap.org/ due to a neighbor installing one station nearby.

I didn't go through the license, but there's a claim that the data is "open": http://developers.pioupiou.fr/

There's a good amount of stations especially in the alpine region, which would be incredibly handy to see.

    • RE: Setting default forecast model

@Wheats Every time I open the website, the current model is reset to ECMWF (I guess based on location) despite my preference being set to "last used". I'd expect this to be saved on a cookie and/or within the profile.

I never tried before but I setup a widget on the android app with the model set to ICON-D2. When I open the app through it, the forecast model is still ECMWF.

I alternate between models, so this is not a big issue, but having a model preference would be great.
