    • RE: Widgets on Android stopped working after the last update

Before yesterdays (ish) update the widget would render and I could manually update.
Today it simply states I need to turn on notifications.

Is there a way to use this widget without notifications? Pulling down the notification menu in the system and having it clogged with "updating location/weather" is awful. It's a waste of space when I'm trying to see actual legitimate notifications.

Other apps do not have this requirement and these feels like a big backslide in usability and UX.

All is good on my end, other than unable to login with Google in the android app. Here's my full journey:

      1. Have had the android app for a few months and really enjoy it, so signed up for premium.
      2. It says to redeem premium to login.
      3. I didn't have an account, so clicked create new account.
      4. Selected Google auth, and got an error.
      5. Switched to Chrome and went to Windy.com and made an account using Google auth just fine.
      6. Back to android app, tried logging in with Google and got same error.
      7. In Chrome, on Windy.com went to my profile and chose Password, it stated I didn't have one but to click the button to send a reset email. Clicked that.
      8. Followed link in email to set a password
      9. In android app, logged in via my Google email and the password I just set.
      10. Clicked redeem premium and it successfully linked.

    • Android widget to open zoomed somehow

Hello! Like many others over the years, I really only care about my immediate local current weather, specifically the temperature, seeing the local weather stations is amazing and by far my used feature. The only way to have Windy open to a specific zoom level is via Settings > Start location and layer > Use Last Location.

That works great as it saves your zoom level but.. it only works when opening the android app directly.

If you are using the awesome Windy Widget on a home screen, you can set it to a favorite location but upon tapping the widget to open the app it uses the awful default zoom and my screen is filled with 100+ weather station temperatures and I can't see anything until I try to zoom in (which is tricky since if I don't move my finger fast enough it triggers a tap, not a zoom).

My workaround has been to put the app shortcut next to the widget and train myself to never ever ever tap the widget as it completely messes up the "last saved location" and I need to spend 5+ mins trying to get the zoom correct again.

A number of ways to solve it, but the devs would know better, a few examples are:

      1. In the widget settings, add a drop-down with zoom levels.
      2. In favorites, store the zoom level as well and update widget to also send that info when opening.
      3. In the widget settings, a toggle that when enabled forces the app to use the startup location+layers in the app settings (this may get confusing to users if they set their widget to Paris, but their app settings is set to Berlin, but that's on them :) )

Thank you for making the best weather app on Android! Dark sky left a big hole and Windy filled it extremely well.

Samsung S22 Ultra, Android 12, with whatever stock Samsung UI.

Yes, creating an account and logging in on Desktop works great. It's only the native android app that gives the error. Tried again this morning and same error given in Dev console.

      I'm having the same issue.
Created an account in the browser using Google login.
Open the Windy (red logo) app on Android, choose login. Select Google login. Choose my matching account (only have one).
Get the same error, unable to login.

      Error in Dev console:
