I'll run the risk of also being insulted with a childish remark. To degrade a product in order to extort money is disreputable to say the least. Seems to be the desperate last gasps of a dying
corporate entity.
Shame on you windy.

I'm a pilot of a beat up old single engine fixed wing Aeronca 11ac -- built in 1946, rebuilt by me 10 years ago after reposing in boxes for 35 years. Folks get a real kick when I start it by hand. Each time I run the risk of removing an arm, or worse. But I love doing it.
Another thrill for any unfortunate passengers is when I demonstrate the aircraft's incredible resistance to stall. I've had her down to 31 kts ias, practically walking speed, but I digress...
It can be a lot of fun hanging things out there alright.
I also don't plan on listening to my better angels anytime soon.
This app makes it possible to fly while others have to sit at home, unfortunately relying on our national weather service that has trouble predicting more than 12 hours out. Heck, they get the past weather wrong! Windy helps me find calm holes in the sky, a must for an airframe that's more like an underpowered kite with severe adverse yaw characteristics. I will always be extremely grateful for that.
May luck remain your friend ivo, always. See you up there some time.
Windy is my go to weather app. Using it makes me look pretty clever, better than environment Canada that's for sure!
Many thanks
Of why I love Windy.
We had an intense cell of cold dry air push through this afternoon bringing strong winds and a great deal of electrical activity. Widespread power outages and debris everywhere. Environment Canada finally issued a warning, an hour after the system passed through.
Nailed it!
All the bad science vast amounts of money can't buy. Environment and climate change Canada. Averaging better than 40% hindcasting, in their models...
@Korina
(In my best inspector Clouseau voice) I know that! :)
I saw an opening for a silly joke and leapt right in. I do that sometimes... I really oughta grow up some day, just not yet.

One can use radar if available in your area, or the satellite IR setting and predict highly localised precipitation events yourself, even when the models and your very pretty local weather-person misses it! Windy sets you free to determine your own forecasts, which is terrific fun at banned parties and illegal gatherings at the beach. ;)
I'll only say that the main reason I first found then used and subscribed to Windy was the almost completely unreliable weather forecasting allegedly performed by environmentalcase Canada. I found tossing a coin or scattering sticks and bones in the dirt to be vastly more competent ways of predicting weather, in an apples to apples comparison.
Windy set me free from increasingly ideologically driven weather forecasts. I feel great pity for those who are forced by law to rely on a service that has difficulty hindcasting weather accurately. Nav Canada comes to mind but I try not to think about that too much...
edit: I should also say that including the most skilful Canadian model would indeed make a good addition to Windy — for various reasons.
google is trying to inculcate itself even more intimately into parts of my life it has no business being in. It is using my automatic Windy subscription renewal as the sneaky point of it's malevolent invasion and I simply won't have it. I'm going to cancel my play store subscription and would instead like to use a more direct way to support Windy. Could you enlighten me just how I might do that?
Many thanks!

Here's my contribution from ~2500 this morning: it's rough as hell today! What kinda Jack wagon goes up in weather like this anyways? Wind shear, near imc at times and freaking cold over 1k. Oughta get grounded I should... lol

I too have clambered aboard. Well worth the price and if it helps pay the bills at Windy HQ then I'll sleep a little better. Thank you team Windy!
But the OP asked: "when does the premium app arrive?"
Well, its close. Really close. I can smell it... In fact, there it is!
It's coming right at us!! (Dives out window)
Since yesterday Windy has opened centered on Dallas Texas, which would probably be nice if I lived there but I don't. :) Inputs are slow and glitchy, as is the app generally, so something's gone haywire. I'll search for run time errors and post here if I can.
