    • Thicken Isoline Option

      Dear Windy,

Isolines look great on a high-resolution monitor, but when using Windy for a briefing using a projector/TV/Video Wall, it would be nice to have an option to thicken the isolines so that they are more visible to an audience. Perhaps a three-option line thickness in settings ?

      Thank You,
      Pete Curran

    • RE: New features

I've been begging for this feature for years. It's currently impossible to overlay 500mb heights on the satellite map. My suggestions is to allow the current altitude-slider to plot selected isolines for either the Geopotential height or pressure options as an overlay on any selected weather basemap (wind/temp/satellite/RH).

Also, Windy needs to add an option in settings to thicken the isolines to allow for better viewing.

    • RE: Understanding the Compare Forecast Feature in Windy.com

In the US, the HRRR 3km model offers the highest resolution in the mesoscale time frame and attempts to resolve wind flow around topography, which is useful for forecasting on wildfires. In the synoptic scale, the ECMWF is my model of choice in the medium range period over the GFS and this past winter, did better at QPF rain and snow amounts.
The model comparison feature is a great tool to illustrate model agreement (or not) and identify model outliers.

    • Add Humidity to Meteogram

      Dear Windy,

Love the web site/app. Fire weather meteorologists would love to see humidity added to the meteogram. Thanks !

    • RE: New sounding with radiosonde measurements

@marekd The ability to compare or "swipe-back" to the previous observed or forecast sounding would be great. I currently don't see a way to do this in the current version, correct ?

    • Fire Weather Forecasting

      Dear Windy Team,

Windy is a great tool for firefighters for assessing critical fire weather conditions. A few suggestions to make Windy even better:

      1. Add Relative Humidity (RH) to the meteogram chart.
      2. Add Wildfire perimeters as a layer toggle. They are here:

      Thank You !

    • RE: Geopotential Height Label

@idefix37 Thank you for your reply. The 500mb height is a standard viewing product for most meteorologists. The ability to select this Geopotential height (only) and overlay these isolines on other maps (satellite, wind) would make Windy even more useful.

    • Geopotential Height Label

      Hello Windy,

I am a huge fan of overlaying geopotential height onto other maps (satellite, wind, precipitable water). I like that the current toggle in Windy allows GH to be overlayed on most maps. Could Windy better label this feature ? I assume the current GH product is a 500mb initial analysis from a global model, but it doesn't specify. Is it 500mb heights from the ECMWF or GFS ? Please amend the label to specify.

      Thank You,
      Pete Curran

    • RE: 500mb Heights with Satellite Overlay

Even though only the current and past few hours of 500mb heights could be displayed on the satellite loop, it gives much better representation of the synoptic scale picture. Overlayed on a satellite loop, this allows a better understanding of current weather for the general public and those receiving a weather briefing that may not have a meteorology background. If can display surface pressure over a image, then certainly a 500mb pressure overlay is possible as well.
