Your site has more info available than I had available when I was forecasting when I was in the Navy. There is one thing that I havent found though, the 500mb vorticity. Is it in your site under a different name? If it isn't, are there plans to offer it?

New suggested layers.
How about a 1000-500mb thickness chart and a 500mb vorticity chart? These were extremely useful back when I was forecasting. BTW, Thanks for this site. When I was in the Navy, Just the basic GFS, and NOGAPS, runs cost each station $1,000 per month. Now I get all models out to 10 days for some of them, including CAPE index, thunderstorm potential, precipitation type, amount of PPT. actual and forecasted soundings for any point etc, etc. for one low price. Those two charts are the only ones I miss, and I really wish I had Windy.com available when I was forecasting.

RE: Why is observed weather always different than a forecast
FMH 3 (weather observers handbook) states that the anomometer should be 15' (5m) above the ground.
