I guess you are talking about the mobile app. On desktop the weather picker was not changed.

With the new picker (crosshairs) when you have moved the map to place your chosen location under the picker, the value at picker location is shown in upper left corner of your screen for the parameter (layer) shown at screen.

Then you can choose another layer,

But you need to touch the screen to see the new value in upper left corner.

I agree this new UI is really bad and not intuitive compared to the previous one.
