      Hi Captain Ranjith,

I am currently working on the new version of the “GPS from COM” and “GPS from TCP” plugins.
It will probably be officially published in a few days, but you can already test it by installing it directly from the following URL via “Install plugin directly from URL”:

      https://windy-plugins.com/14130635/windy-plugin-shipposition/3.0.1/plugin.min.js

This new version allows you to display the AIS targets from your onboard NMEA network (i.e. targets received by your vessel’s AIS receiver, not MarineTraffic) directly on the weather map.

Several additional features are also available and can be enabled or disabled as required (https://yannkerherve.github.io/position-plugin/).

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if you would like any adjustments.

      Kind regards,
      Yann

I am currently working on an Android application that will act as the small server receiving TCP NMEA data. On some boats—especially smaller sailboats—the NMEA stream is sent over TCP through a Wi-Fi router to a tablet or a smartphone. This will allow those boats to use my plugin as well.

Since the plugin is primarily designed to run on computers, it will be published in the coming days without this functionality. The small APK will be added later, and no modification of the plugin will be required because it has already been designed to support it.

However, since I don’t know anyone who has a direct serial (COM) connection between a phone and an NMEA emitter, the “COM” section stays visible in the plugin, but I have not been able to test whether it is actually possible that it could works.

      Hello @maupoint !
Yes, for the moment, the plugin only recognises $GNRMC frames. But, if you provide me with a sample of your $GPGLL frames, I can try to modify the plugin so that they are also recognised!
      Thanks for your feedback!

      Hi dear Windy developers,

Would it be possible to add the new version of the Ship Position plugin?
Also, do you know when we will need to switch to the new constructors?

      New plugin link:

You can safely remove both "GPS from COM" and “GNSS from TCP”, as they have been completely rebuilt in this new version.

      Main features:

      • Support for both COM and TCP technologies, with saved connection settings to avoid repeated configuration
      • Vessel position, heading, and track displayed on the weather map
      • Centering and vessel-follow functions
      • AIS display for better distance awareness
      • Direct visualization of NMEA sensor data inside the plugin
      • Comparison with the current PNT model and suggestion to switch if needed
      • 24-hour graphical data history
      • Compact mode for smooth navigation within Windy
      • Complete installation help website, including setup via OpenCPN

Thank you very much for your work and support.

      Best regards,
      Yann Kerhervé

PS: The issue has been resolved with d.drillias 🙂

      Hello dear developers,

I have developed and tested a new version of the GPS plugin called GNSS from COM v2, which replaces the old “GPS from COM” plugin based on user requests.

Could you please remove the old version and publish this new one?
Here is the link to the plugin:
      https://windy-plugins.com/14130635/windy-plugin-gpsfromcomv2/0.1.1/plugin.min.js

Additionally, I have updated the GPS from TCP plugin to support a wider range of NMEA sentence prefixes, improving compatibility with many devices.
Here is the link to the updated TCP plugin:
      https://windy-plugins.com/14130635/windy-plugin-gpsfromtcp/0.2.6/plugin.min.js

Thank you very much for your time and support!

      Hello everyone,

I have made some updates to the plugin. The new link is:

You can use the “Install plugin from URL” feature to test it.

I’ll take a few days to test it myself and wait for feedback from different vessels before requesting official publication by the Developers.

Thank you all for your feedback!

      Best regards,
      Yann

@behe01 For the moment, server.exe only works on Windows. I don't have a Mac to develop the application on MacOs. I may try in the coming months with an emulator.
      Thanks a lot!

@Yann-Kerherve Thanks for your plugin. Can you look at the points below please (just quick fixes).

closing the plugin sidebar with the back arrow doesn't work: bcast is not defined
update "repository" in your pluginConfig (currently points to Windy template)
      Thanks, Pavel

      Hi Pavel,

Thanks a lot for your feedback and for reviewing the plugin!

Both issues have been fixed, the new URL is : https://windy-plugins.com/14130635/windy-plugin-gpsfromtcp/0.2.2/plugin.min.js

Thanks again for your review and your help!
